The story:

Just two blocks from Arnold’s Bar and Grill sits the historic Herzog Studio, one of the most important rooms in early country music. In 1948 and 1949, Hank Williams Sr recorded eight songs there over two four song sessions — the only MGM sessions he ever cut outside Nashville. For anyone who loves roots music, Herzog is sacred ground.

Race Street Revival: The Herzog Sessions is a modern return to that room. We rented out the now-closed space and recorded a new split album in the exact place where Hank stood seventy five years ago. The project pairs two of Cincinnati’s most beloved Americana bands — The Tillers and Buffalo Wabs and The Price Hill Hustle — to honor both Hank’s legacy and Cincinnati’s overlooked role in country music history. Produced with Neltner Small Batch Records, the album is meant to feel like a bridge between past and present.

Race Street Revival arrives Black Friday, 11/28/2025 on all streaming platforms and as a limited sea glass splatter vinyl. And thanks to Maker’s Mark, we’ll be giving away free copies at Arnold’s on 11/26/2025 and 11/2025 at each groups album release parties.

This album is more than a tribute. It’s a living continuation of what happened on Race Street — two Cincinnati bands standing in the same room where Hank recorded “Lovesick Blues,” “Mansion on the Hill,” and “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” carrying that heritage forward. It’s a Cincinnati story told in the place where American music was shaped.
